Currency

Sterling, Euros, and Dollars can be easily changed into Turkish Lira at all banks, post offices (PTT) and change offices. In many towns you can also get a good exchange rate at jewellery shops. Many shops exchange money at a favourable rate and most will accept sterling. If buying furniture, curtains, and white goods etc. it is often possible to pay in Euros or Sterling and get a very favourable price.

Always shop around for the best exchange rate, commission rates should be no higher than 3%. Many foreign exchange bureaus in town do not charge commission whereas commission at the airport is about 5%. Please note, there is no where to change money at the airport in Bodrum. If in a pinch, Hertz will change cash into Lira.

Passports & Visas

A full British Passport and Turkish Visa is required to enter Turkey. Your passport must be valid to include at least 60 days plus 180 days for the length of your visa after the expiry date of your passport, for full information please go to www.fco.gov.uk.

All UK nationals will require a visa to visit Turkey, you can obtain a visa from the Turkish Government website www.evisa.gov.tr before you travel. Please be aware, it has been brought to our attention that there are several websites offering Turkish visas at a higher cost than the official website and we would strongly recommend all travellers to Turkey to use only the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website to purchase their visas. Non UK passport holders are advised to contact the appropriate Embassy in London as to their visa fee.

Getting around Turkey

Virtually the whole of Turkey is well covered by public transport, including long-distance buses, domestic flights, minibuses and ferries. The aged train network is being overhauled, with new high-speed lines linking the capital Ankara with İstanbul, Konya and Sivas. You can book a car rental using our recommended suppliers here.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory for all guests staying with Artemis Travel. We do not sell travel insurance so guests must make their own arrangements. Travelling without insurance is not advisable as it could cost thousands of pounds in the event of an accident or incident. We cannot accept any liability for guests who do not take insurance.
